Hotel pick-up and drop-off in Auckland, Paihia, and all points in between; experienced and friendly guide; travel in luxury air-conditioned vehicle, sumptuous lunch
This popular tour begins with a chauffer – driven trip from Auckland through lovely Rodney District along beautiful coastlines and over the breathtaking Pohuehue Viaduct, up through Northland, to the Bay of Islands.
Upon arrival in Paihia, we go directly to the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds, overlooking the Bay of Islands. This is New Zealand’s pre-eminent historic site. It was here on February 6, 1840, that the Treaty of Waitangi was first signed between Maori and the British Crown. You will be taken on a guided tour and entertained by the He Tohu cultural performance. After the performance, we will finish our tour and have lunch on site at the award winning café.
After lunch, we will make the short drive over to the wharf to catch the fast boat out to Hole in the Rock. We will take you through the inner and outer islands of the Bay to the awe-inspiring scenery of Cape Brett, then cruise through the ‘Hole in the Rock and explore deep into Cathedral Cave. The option of pick-up or drop-off at historic Russell is included.
After arriving back at the Paihia wharf, we will head back to Auckland, stopping in Kawakawa to visit the amazing Hundertwasser Toilets! You have to see them to believe them!
Then you relax in luxury while we do the driving back to Auckland.
